Pratyush Kumar Sahoo

Hey, This is Pratyush. I graduated with a B.Tech from IIT-BHU in 2020 and am currently a Master's student in the Robotics Engineering Department at the Worcester Polytechnic Insititue in Fall 2021. My interests lie in engineering and development of novel robotic systems, being able to perceive and act intelligently in unknown and unstructured environments. Currently I am working with the Tokyo 18 Laboratory at Sony R&D in the 3D Environment Sensing group.

Previously, I have interned at the HUMAN Lab, Korea Advanced Institute Of Science and Technology under Dr. Yong Hwa Park working on Active Learning strategies and Online learning techniques for fast and efficient training and real time updation of object detection and localization networks in case of Indoor Robots. Before that I was a research intern at the Robotics Research Center, IIIT Hyderabad under Dr. K Madhava Krishna. Also I have the experience of working as a Computer Vision lead at iVizz, cAST Technologies on an interesting problem of human activity and touch detection, which is currently also deployed in some US institutions.

Currently I am working in team SASCW under Dr. Shyam Kamal of IIT BHU for creating a semi-autonomous robot capable of traversing stairs RGBD and IMU data, we have created a stair localization and stair parameter extraction algorithms and are currently testing Visual Odometry methods for state estimation and improving existing sensor fusion appraoches for robust stair climbing.
